Often chalked up to living a busy life, fatigue is a common symptom of andropause. With this concern, you may feel tired frequently, even on nights when you get a full night of rest. It happens because testosterone influences your energy levels.
While you might look at testosterone as a hormone related to your sex drive and muscle mass, it also affects your mood. For instance, it affects the neurotransmitters in the brain that play a role in determining your emotional state. Once your testosterone level decreases, you might feel anxious, depressed, or irritable. You might shift moods frequently.
Testosterone plays a significant role in influencing muscle mass, strength, and recovery. Therefore, when a decrease happens, you may have a reduction in muscle mass and strength. Even if you hit the gym regularly, you still won’t be able to rebuild it.
As testosterone levels lower, you might battle with anxiety and/or depression, which can both affect sleep. For some people, sleep disturbances occur, which can affect brain function because the brain needs that rest to reset and repair. That’s not considering that testosterone has an impact on the brain.
All of these reasons can cause you to be less mentally sharp than you once were. You might struggle with memory at times, or you could also experience difficulty when you try to concentrate.
